MLK Day parade to be held Monday in Kingsport

KINGSPORT — The 18th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade will be held in Kingsport on Monday, and it’s not too late to sign up to participate.

About the parade

The parade will be presented by the Tennessee/Virginia Fellowship Against Racism and the East Tennessee Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. This year’s theme is “Answer to Racism is the Love of Christ.”

Parade sponsors include Food City, city of Kingsport, Office Depot, Joshua Generation (JGII), My Brother’s Keeper, Putting Babies First, New Vision, H.O.P.E. and the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency.

When and where

The parade route will follow Center Street and end on Shelby Street in the parking lot between City Hall and the Justice Center.

Parade participants should assemble at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of E. Sevier and Center streets in the Rikki Rhoton Allstate Insurance Company parking lot. The parade itself will last from 12-1 p.m.
