Johnson City's Norris to play in MLB Futures Game

Staff Report • Jun 24, 2014 at 10:04 PM

Former Science Hill High School ace Daniel Norris will represent the Blue Jays organization in Major League Baseball's Futures Game on Sunday, July 13.

Norris, a 21-year-old left-hander, started this year at Class-A Dunedin — going 6-0 with a Florida State League-leading 1.22 ERA in 13 starts — before recently being promoted to Double-A New Hampshire of the Eastern League.

He made his second start of the season for the Fisher Cats on Tuesday night and picked up his first win with the Manchester-based team.

A second-round draft pick in 2011, Norris is on the U.S. roster for the annual prospect showcase that precedes the MLB All-Star game, which will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis on July 15.
