KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Mets put on a fireworks display after Saturday night's baseball game with the Danville Braves.

The pyrotechnics were preceded by an eagerly awaited display of offensive fireworks and the K-Mets rolled to a 9-5 victory, their first of the Appalachian League season.

Catcher Brandon Brosher was the man of the hour, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Brosher's two-run blast over center against Danville starter Daniel Cordero (0-1) accentuated the five-run rally in the fourth inning that put the home team in front for good. He added his two-run shot over left in the fifth inning to put the K-Mets ahead 7-2.

Oswaldo Carraballo went 2-for-5 with an RBI for Kingsport (1-2). Luis Guillorme contributed a two-RBI double to the fourth inning surge.

Eudor Garcia went 2-for-3 and Leon Canelon went 2-for-4 for Kingsport, which hammered out 13 hits, collectively.

K-Mets left hander Yoan Gonzalez (1-0) went seven innings for the win. He allowed two earned runs off five hits, striking out four and walking three.

The Braves scored three unearned runs on reliever Ruben Reyes in the eighth inning. Luis Rengel allowed two runners with a walk and hit-by-pitch in the ninth before collecting the third out.

Sean Godfrey led the Braves lineup, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Alejandro Piloto went 2-for-4 for Danville (2-1), Omar Obregon doubled and Justin Black tripled.

The Kingsport Mets homestand at Hunter Wright Stadium continues Sunday with the arrival of the Bluefield Blue Jays. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
