According to an article posted on the EHC Whitetopper, E&H is being investigated regarding possible benefits to student-athletes in the football program, a violation of NCAA Division III bylaws. These alleged violations are categorized as a "lack of institutional control" in the athletic department.
A former Wasps football player, Nathan Dorton, confirmed being recruited to Emory & Henry with offers of a "coaches scholarship" and was promised an apartment by a member of the coaching staff, the article said. Dorton played for Appalachian State in 2011 before transferring to E&H in 2012 after being recruited by former Wasps coach Don Montgomery and offensive coordinator Stan Hodgin.
Myra Sims, Emory & Henry athletic director, declined to give details on the reported investigation.
