The Kingsport Mets have released their schedule for the 2014 Appalachian League season.
The Kingsport Mets, winners of the 2013 Appalachian League West Division, open up the 2014 season when the Danville Braves come to Hunter Wright Stadium on June 19.
The Mets play 68 scheduled games, including 34 at home from June through August. The Mets open up at home for the second consecutive season with a three-game series against the Danville Braves, June 19-21. The 2014 season concludes with a three-game series, Aug. 27-29, on the road against the Elizabethton Twins.
Home games Monday through Friday start at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday games start at 6 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
The Mets start the season with six consecutive home games in June, host 14 games in July and finish the season with 14 home games in August at Hunter Wright Stadium. They have an eight-game homestand from July 16-23, which is the longest of the season, followed by a seven-game road trip, the longest of the season.
Last season, the K-Mets had one of their best seasons in recent years. They won the West Division and came within one strike from advancing to the Appalachian League championship. It was the first time they had made it to the playoffs since 1996. The Mets have won the Appalachian League championship twice in their history, 1988 and 1995. The 1995 championship was in their inaugural season at Hunter Wright Stadium.
