KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett was all business Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Region 1-AAA boys basketball tournament at the Buck Van Huss Dome.

In a dominating performance, the Indians cruised to an 82-53 victory over visiting Morristown West.

D-B (20-8) moved on to the regional semifinals Tuesday at Jefferson County. The Indians will take on Sevier County (21-9), a 74-64 winner over David Crockett.

D-B forced 12 turnovers in the first quarter and raced out to a 27-12 lead.

From that point, it was all over but the shouting for the Trojans (14-15). They just had no answer for the Indians’ inside game or swarming defense.

“Our guys were focused and came out ready to play,” said D-B coach Charlie Morgan. “Everyone contributed to this win tonight.”

John Fulkerson had a game-high 19 points, pulled down nine rebounds and swatted three blocks to lead the Indians. Makale Foreman added 16 points and Tyleke Love 14 for D-B.

All told, 10 Indians made it into the scoring column.

Jake Logan led Morristown West with 15 points. Josh Black had 10 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.
