D-B used an 8-0 run in the second quarter to push its lead to double figures and started the second half with a 9-2 spurt the sent the Indians well on their way to an 80-59 victory Tuesday night.
The Tribe needed a total team effort to overcome the heroics of Boone senior Dillon Reppart, who notched the 1,000th point of his career en route to a game-high 31. Five Indians hit double figures, led by John Fulkerson’s 22-point outburst. Paul Gadson had 14 points, Tyleke Love scored 12, and Makale Foreman and Matt Halvorsen notched 11 apiece.
Boone (14-13, 4-7) hung around early, trailing by just three points early in the second quarter before the first run by the Indians (16-8, 10-2) pushed D-B’s advantage to 30-19. After taking that 11-point lead into halftime, the Tribe used that second push in the first two minutes of the third quarter to take control of the game for good.
Freshman Evan Scanlen added 11 points for Boone.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Indians scored the final nine points to beat Boone 46-38.
The Lady Trailblazers grabbed a 38-37 lead in the fourth quarter before the Tribe slammed the door down the stretch.
Sasha Morrisette led D-B (17-8, 7-5) with 20 points. Autumn Bradshaw paced Boone (16-11, 5-6) with 13.
