KINGSPORT — Sullivan North boys basketball coach Jay Gregory was not to sure what to expect when his team faced off against Sullivan East on Tuesday evening.

The result was a complete game by the Golden Raiders, who picked up a 71-51 Three Rivers Conference victory.

“I knew that one of two things would happen,” Gregory said. “We would either be zombies after five games in six days or running on pure adrenaline and jumping through the ceiling tiles.”

Seniors Grayson Ball and Trevor Williams closed out their last regular-season home game by combining for 47 points for the Raiders (7-16, 2-9), who led by many as 23 points in the second half. Ball led all scorers with 26 and Williams followed with 21.

North nailed a season-high eight 3-pointers and committed only six turnovers. The win gave the Raiders the sixth-place spot heading into next week’s league tournament.

Curt Lunceford led East (11-16, 4-8) with 16 points and Gavin Grubb tossed in 13.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Patriots cruised to an 88-14 win.

East (23-6, 9-3) placed four players in double figures. Caitlin Stewart led with 14 points, Brandy Watkins added 13, Megan Addison had 12 and Kara Stafford had 10.

North (5-16, 0-11) was without the services of Shenoah Bradley, who suffered a minor injury in Monday’s contest with University High. Shania Leonard, the team’s lone senior, led the Lady Raiders with five points.
