After renewing his season tickets, Chris Wolford was entered into a sweepstakes to watch this year’s race from a suite. He didn’t expect to win because he didn’t even know he was entered in the sweepstakes.
“When I won, I was contacted by phone,” said Wolford, who is also vice president of sales for Rocklan Flooring. “I was in disbelief because I didn’t remember entering any sweepstakes.”
Wolford said he was skeptical at first, but the more he talked with Bristol officials, he realized it was true.
Usually, Wolford gets four tickets to Bristol and invites some people to attend. He said since he has a suite, it will be a family affair this year. He said he invited his whole family, and this Saturday, his kids will experience a race for the first time.
Wolford has been attending races at Bristol for the last 12 or 13 years. He said he was first introduced to racing around 1989 by a friend of his dad.
After being introduced to it, Wolford traveled to some different tracks, but once he went to Bristol, he was hooked.
“Bristol is our favorite,” Wolford said. “There is nothing like Bristol. It is very easy to see everything and the night race is quite a spectacle.”
Watching the night race from a suite this year will be different, and Wolford is looking forward to it.
“I’m very excited about it,” he said. “I’ve never won anything.”
