KINGSPORT — Unearned runs undid the Kingsport Mets on Thursday night at Hunter Wright Stadium.

Three K-Met errors led to three unearned runs, allowing the woeful Bristol White Sox to escape with a 4-2 victory in Appalachian League play.

Kingsport (30-23) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Joe Tuschak came through with an RBI single and Jeff McNeil scored on a fielding error.

But that was all the offense the K-Mets could muster against Bristol (14-38). The Sox, meanwhile, plated an unearned run in the top of the second and two more in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.

Jake Brown came through with an RBI single in the seventh to provide Bristol with an insurance run.

Thaddius Lowry (2-4) picked up the win for Bristol after allowing one earned run on four hits over five innings of work. Charlie Sharrer and Alex Powers each threw two shutout innings to close out Kingsport.

Robert Whalen (2-2) took the lost for the K-Mets despite the fact that he only gave up one earned run in seven innings. Whalen scattered seven hits, struck out seven batters and only issued one walk.

Tuschak finished 2-for-4 for Kingsport, as did Jeff Diehl. The K-Mets will host Bristol again tonight.
