Gate City's Catherine Crooke won a gold medal in 75+ volleyball at the National Senior Olympics

CLEVELAND — Several area residents earned medals at the National Senior Olympics held July 19-Aug. 1.

Catherine Crooke from Gate City won gold in the 75+ volleyball event and a silver in the 70+ volleyball division.

Kingsport’s Joyce Manis earned gold in 75+ volleyball, silver in 70+ volleyball, bronze in shuffleboard singles and a fourth place in basketball.

Don Doran won a gold medal while playing for a softball team from Chattanooga and a bronze while participating with a basketball team, also from Chattanooga.

Bob Boling took a silver medal in bowling doubles while Rhonda Boling and Thelma Robinette earned a silver medal in bowling doubles.

Carol Hicks won a seventh-place ribbon in the 50-meter run, Barbara Bogart of Elizabethton collected ribbons in cycling and triathlon, and Johnson City’s Eleanor Pendergraft earned a ribbon.
