ELIZABETHTON — The Kingsport Mets’ seven-game winning streak came to a halt Tuesday night when Elizabethton cruised to a 7-1 Appalachian League victory behind Kelvin Ortiz’s three-run triple.

Kingsport (23-15) had won nine of its last 10 games.

Ortiz, the designated hitter for the Twins (19-18), stroked his three-run triple in the bottom of the third inning to put the Twins up 4-0.

The K-Mets scored their lone run in the top of the seventh. Pedro Perez led off with a single to right field. Amed Rosario followed with another single that moved Perez to second, and he advanced to third on a groundout by Champ Stuart.

When Kingsport’s Yeixon Ruiz reached on an error, Perez raced home to put the K-Mets on the board.

The Twins padded their lead in the bottom of the eighth. With two outs, Ortiz was hit by a pitch. He stole second and scored on a single by Ryan Walker. Logan Wade then doubled, advancing Walker to third.

Zach Granite plated two more runs with a triple to center that brought home Wade and Walker to make the score 7-1.

Josh Burris got the win, pitching five innings, scattering three hits, walking three and striking out three.

Persio Reyes took the loss for the K-Mets, going 4 2-3 innings and allowing three earned runs while striking out five.

Kingsport is at Elizabethton again on Wednesday at 7.
