Kingsport's James Beckner misses cut at U.S. Junior Amateur

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Kingsport’s James Beckner shot 77 during Tuesday’s second round of stroke play qualifying at the USGA Junior Amateur being contested at the Martis Camp Club.

Beckner, who will be a junior at Dobyns-Bennett this fall, had a two-day total of 158 to miss the cut for Wednesday’s opening round of match play by seven shots.

Jim Liu from Smithtown, N.Y. was the medalist with an 8-under 136.
