Cox, a recent graduate of the University of Memphis, had rounds of 69-73 — 142.
"It's pretty exciting to have made it to match play," said Cox. "But it was a struggle today. The course is tough. It has a lot of elevation and is very hilly."
Match play will be a new experience for Cox.
"I'm going into the match play with a fun mentality," added Cox. "My plan is to just play one hole at a time and see what happens.
"Qualifying was the tough part," said Cox. "Now I'm going to have fun with it."
In Wednesday’s opening round of match play, Cox will take on Andrew Bailey from Cleveland, Ohio at 12:50 p.m.
Bailey also finished t26 with a 73-69 — 142.
