KNOXVILLE — Tennessee big man Jarnell Stokes earned a spot on his second straight USA Basketball team, this time with the Americans’ Under 19 squad that will compete in the World Championships in the Czech Republic later this month.

Stokes was among 12 players selected out of 26 candidates from a training camp held in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Tennessee forward also played for the U.S. Under 18 team that won the FIBA Americas Championship last summer in Brazil.

Stokes, a Memphis native, led the Volunteers in rebounding (9.6 rpg), blocks (1.1 bpg) and total free throw attempts (194) during his sophomore season.

Another player from the Southeastern Conference, Florida guard Michael Frazier, also made the team, coached by Billy Donovan. Tony Bennett of Virginia and Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth are serving as assistant coaches.

The team leaves for Prague on Saturday. The World Championships run June 27-July 7.
