Lady Bucs senior Megan Devine and junior Meredith Hardy, both of whom played high school volleyball for Dobyns-Bennett, will compete on the BIP-Southeastern team. ETSU sophomore Jessica Schafer of DeKalb, Ill., will be on Team BIP.
The four-day tournament will host junior national teams, youth national teams and elite women’s club teams from Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Montenegro, Slovenia, Russia, Romania and United States. Each tour will include practices, training matches, a competitive tournament and sightseeing.
The BIP-Southeastern team will begin in Budapest, Hungary, competing against Vasas Sports Club, the 2013 Hungarian Cup champions. From Budapest, the team will travel to Pula, Croatia, for the European Global Challenge opening ceremonies. Tournament dates are set for July 15-18. All tours will conclude in Italy with a day trip of sightseeing.
The BIP-SE Team is made up of 10 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, Division II and NJCAA institutions and will be coached by Daniel Magnusson of Sweden's LjungbyVolleybollKlubb and Meghan Sherman of the University of Georgia.
Team BIP consists of six Americans and four to five European players, who will be coached by Jerry Hulla of Bemidji State University. The team will play in the same tournament as BIP-SE from July 15-18.
