Lady Vols, defending national champion Tide face off Friday night in Super Regional

KNOXVILLE — Southeastern Conference softball rivals Tennessee and Alabama square off Friday at 7 p.m. in a best-of-three-NCAA Super Regional at Lee Stadium.

ESPN2 is televising the game.

Game 2 between the defending national champion Crimson Tide (45-13) and the Lady Vols (47-10) is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. on ESPN. A third game, if necessary, follows at 8 p.m. ESPN is showing both games.

Other Super Regional matchups are Texas A&M (42-16) vs. Oklahoma (50-4) at Norman, Okla.; Louisiana-Lafayette (46-13) vs. Michigan (48-10) at Ann Arbor, Mich.; Kentucky (41-19) vs. Arizona State (48-10) at Tempe, Ariz.; Florida State (33-25) vs. Texas (47-8) at Austin, Texas; Nebraska (43-13) vs. Oregon (49-9) at Eugene, Ore.; Washington (41-15) vs. Missouri (38-12) at Columbia, Mo.; and UAB (40-17) vs. Florida (55-7) at Gainesville, Fla.

The Super Regional winners advance to the Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City May 30-June 5.
