Silly stunts make serious point during National Safe Boating Week

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency participated in National Safe Boating Week activities to promote the wearing of life jackets as the 2013 summer boating season begins.

The Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day was Friday, May 17 with the goal of demonstrating how easy it is to wear a life jacket. Participants were to wear life jackets to work, demonstrating how easy to wear one anywhere.

Saturday, May 18 was Ready, Set, Wear It! day, in its fourth year in trying to bring awareness on the importance of life jacket wear by holding a world record day. Participants were attempting to break the world record for the most life jackets worn at one time.

The worldwide event kicked off the start of National Safe Boating Week.
