KINGSPORT — Roll Tribe indeed.Dobyns-Bennett’s baseball team closed out the regular season with an impressive 6-0 victory over Unicoi County on Tuesday night, sending the Indians steamrolling toward the District 1-AAA tournament.D-B claimed a share of the Big 8 Conference regular-season title along with Science Hill, but the Indians will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed because of the tiebreaker. The Indians followed up Monday’s 5-0 shutout win over Tennessee High with another dominant pitching performance against the Blue Devils on Senior Night at J. Fred Johnson Stadium.AJ Anderson allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings of work and Jacob Lambert and Payton Marshall each added a hitless inning of relief to seal the deal. It’s been 18 innings and counting since D-B has allowed a run.“Our pitchers have thrown really good,” D-B coach Ryan Wagner said. “What can you say about them the last two nights against good ballclubs? They’re putting up zeros and our defense has played well behind them.”After a so-so night at the plate Monday, D-B was back in full swing Tuesday in a non-conference battle between 20-win teams. The Tribe grabbed a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Christian Bailey in the bottom of the third inning before plating five runs on six hits in the fourth to take complete control. The Indians (26-4) outhit the Blue Devils (20-4) 11-2.For complete coverage of the game see the May 1 edition of the Times-News.
