'Landers deal Bucs third straight loss

RADFORD, Va. — The East Tennessee State baseball team came out on the losing end of a non-conference slugfest against Radford, falling 14-10 on Tuesday in a game that featured 29 hits. All nine Buccaneers starters finished with at least one hit. Jeremy Taylor and Dylan Tritsch combined to go 6-for-9 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs. Chris Riopedre had a pair of doubles and scored twice, and Clinton Freeman belted his ninth home run of the year and drove in two runs.Eight different players accounted for the 15 hits by the Highlanders (23-16), who put together an eight-run third inning and a four-run fifth to pound their way to a third straight win. Alexander Lee led the way by going 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. ETSU trailed 13-4 before scoring six times in the sixth. Radford freshman Nygeal Andrews closed out the game by tossing one-hit ball over the final three innings for his first save.Freshman right-hander Dylan Nelson (5-2) got the win. Nelson gave up eight runs on 10 hits, struck out four and walked three.The Bucs (22-16) used six different pitchers, with freshman righty Griffin Krieg (2-5) taking the loss. Krieg was charged with four runs on three hits in two innings.ETSU — which has dropped three straight, its longest losing streak of the season — opens a four-game homestand Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against Appalachian State.
