The fourth annual Tri-Cities Amateur golf tour gets under way May 25-26 at Nolichucky View in Greeneville. This year’s tour includes 10 events plus the Tri-Cities Cup Matches. After Nolichucky View, the tour moves to Johnson City Country Club for the Tillinghast Invitational on June 1-2, followed by the Graysburg Amateur/Senior Amateur on June 15-16 and The Crossings Invitational on June 22-23. Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville is the fifth stop on the tour, June 29-30, with the East Tennessee Amateur teeing up July 5-7 at Elizabethton Golf Course. For the second straight year, the Tri-Cities Amateur championship is at Country Club of Bristol. That event takes place July 13-14. Golfers must make a choice the final weekend of the tour: Both the Lonesome Pine Invitational and Ridgefields Invitationals are set for the same weekend. Ridgefields holds its three-day event July 19-21 and LPCC is a two-day tournament July 20-21. Throughout the season, players earn points based on their finishes in each event. Fifty points go to the winner, all the way down to 13 for 10th place. All other players in field earn three points for participating. In the Tri-Cities Am, the top 15 finishers are awarded points with the winner earning 150. At the end of the tour, the players with the most points in the regular and senior divisions earn player of the year honors. Also, the amateur team that competes against the local pros in the Tri-Cities Cup Matches is comprised of the top players on the points list. This year’s matches again are set for the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough. For more information on the Tri-Cities Amateur Tour and to register for tournaments, visit the Tri-CitiesGolf page.
