KINGSPORT — Sullivan North’s baseball team has had all the moral victories it can stand lately. It would like to put some real ones into the win column. Not even a grand slam by Happy Valley’s Sam Allie on Tuesday night managed to slam the door on the Golden Raiders, who had the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.Warriors late reliever Nate Childress struck out Seth Maxwell and Ryan Anderson to collect the save and Happy Valley picked up the 14-13 Three Rivers Conference win.“We battled hard, played hard and played terrible. That’s about what it is,” said North coach Steve Dixon, whose team committed seven errors in the field.Three Raiders pitchers also combined for 10 walks and two batters hit by pitches.Starter Chase Arnold (0-3) got the worst of it. He was touched with nine runs — four of them earned — off six hits. He struck out two and walked only two, his work encumbered by four North errors. For complete coverage of the game see the April 3 edition of the Times-News.
