KINGSPORT — On the soccer stat sheet, Dobyns-Bennett completely dominated visiting Maryville on Tuesday evening at Indian Highland Park. On the scoreboard, the Rebels had the only real number that counted. A penalty kick in the 72nd minute proved to be the difference for Maryville (3-1-1), which left town with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over the Indians. “Let’s not kid ourselves,” said Maryville coach Steve Feather. “D-B dominated us all over the field. But soccer can be a cruel game; sometimes the better team doesn’t win.”The Tribe (2-1-0) had 23 shots to just five for the Rebels and held a 6-2 shots on goal advantage. But try as they might, the Indians could not find the net. Maryville goalkeeper Ryan Jorgensen came up big time after time and kept the Tribe at bay. D-B netminder Preston Mercer was equally sharp, making two spectacular saves on Maryville’s only two shots on goal.
