TCC girls clinch third straight state title

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. — Three-peat it is.Tournament MVP Alicia Cook scored 22 points to lead the Tri-Cities Christian girls basketball team to a 62-55 win over Berean Academy on Saturday in the Tennessee Athletic Association of Christian Schools championship game at South Haven Christian.It was the Lady Golden Eagles’ third consecutive state title in basketball.Berean led by three after the first quarter but TCC (24-13) turned it up after that to keep its string intact.All-tournament selections Becca Cox added 17 points and Lindsey Hofer had six points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Sarah Cox, who was injured early in the game, also made the all-tournament squad.Olivia Johnson led Berean with 22 points.
