Girls BasketballTwin Springs 44, Rye Cove 27NICKELSVILLE — Shiloah Darnell’s 13-point performance propelled Twin Springs to a 44-27 first-round victory over Rye Cove in the Cumberland District girls basketball tournament on Tuesday night.The Lady Titans (8-14) limited the Lady Eagles (2-22) to nine points in the first half and a total of eight field goals in the contest.Lucindy Lawson scored 12 points and went 4-for-6 from the charity stripe in the Lady Eagles’ loss.Twin Springs will face Castlewood in Friday night’s semifinals at Thomas Walker.Lee 49, John Battle 45BRISTOL, Va. — The Lady Generals got 13 points from Samantha Ely and 11 from Makenzie Arney as they shocked the Lady Trojans in the first round of the Clinch Mountain District tournament.John Battle got 13 points from Chloe Harris and 12 from Brooke Rutherford.
