Girls BasketballWise Central 87, J.I. Burton 23WISE — The top-seeded Wise Central girls kicked off their postseason basketball campaign in style Monday.The Lady Warriors blew past J.I. Burton 87-23 in the semifinals of the Lonesome Pine District tournament at Virginia-Wise.Laura Gipe led Central (22-1) with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Hayley Wyrick also shot a high percentage (8-of-11) to finish with 19 points, and Logan Reynolds added 12 points and six assists.Jaz Hill led the Lady Raiders (7-16) with six points and 11 rebounds.Clintwood 51, Union 48 WISE — No. 3 seed Clintwood edged No. 2 Union in the second semifinal of the LPD tournament in a game plagued by poor shooting and fouls.Both teams shot less than 28 percent from the field and the teams combined to commit 55 fouls, with five players fouling out.The Lady Greenwave (14-8) trailed for most of the first three quarters but grabbed a 34-33 lead with 1:09 left in the third and never trailed again. Kayla Mullins scored 11 points and Katlyn Phillips added 10 points and nine rebounds for Clintwood.Sydney McKinney recorded 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Bears (14-8). Summer Begley pulled down 13 rebounds to go with her six points.Lebanon 56, Lee 54LEBANON — The Lady Pioneers edged the Lady Generals in Clinch Mountain District regular-season play.Elizabeth Johnson scored 18 points to lead Lebanon (15-6, 5-3) and Kati Simmons added 13. Lee High (6-15, 1-7) got 14 points from Samantha Ely and 12 from Kelsey Skaggs.Sullivan East 71, Tri-Cities Christian 54 BLOUNTVILLE — Courtney Stewart led a balanced Lady Patriots offense with 12 points in a win over Tri-Cities Christian to end the regular season.Caitlin Stewart and Savanna Summers added 11 points apiece for Sullivan East (19-9), which outscored Tri-Cities 20-9 in the third quarter to pull away. The Lady Patriots will play Elizabethton on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the semifinals of the Three Rivers Conference tournament.Alicia Cook and Sarah Cox led the Lady Eagles (18-13) with 14 points each and Becca Cox added 12.Cedar View Christian 46, Academy of the Smokies 15 KINGSPORT — Erin Tipton put up 16 points and Emily Clark added 10 to lead the Lady Seahawks to the win.Cedar View Christian (10-16) hits the road to Harrogate tonight to take on J. The Raiders shot 55 percent from the field and 80 percent from the charity stripe.Bryan Dempsey led Johnson County (14-19, 2-8) with 20 points.
