Makeup Madness: Iced out games reset

Icy roads and a hodgepodge of wintry precipitation have brought the region's prep sports schedule to a screeching halt today, forcing coaches to scramble to reschedule games throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Here's what we know so far about tonight's schedule changes:

  • All of the Sullivan County high school games have been cancelled for Friday, Jan. 25, according to SCDE athletics supervisor Evelyn Rafalowski.
  • The Volunteer at Daniel Boone games have been postponed until Saturday, Jan. 26.
  • The Elizabethton at Sullivan East games have been moved to Saturday, Jan. 26.
  • The Unicoi at Happy Valley games have been moved to Saturday, Jan. 26.
  • The Cherokee at South-Doyle game has been postponed until Monday, Jan. 28.
  • The Council at Grundy basketball games have been moved to 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28.
  • The J.I. Burton at Clintwood games have been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 29.
  • The Sullivan South at David Crockett games have been postponed.
  • The Twin Springs at Eastside game has been postponed and moved to Thursday, Feb. 7.
  • Tonight's LPD matchup between Union and Central has been cancelled due to weather. Makeup date will be announced at a later time.
  • The Tennessee High at Sullivan Central game has been postponed until Friday, Feb. 8.
  • Tonight's Hogo game - Chilhowie at Northwood has been postponed to Friday, Feb. 8.
  • Quad games between Rural Retreat and George Wythe have been postponed. The girls' makeup game will be played Jan. 30. The boys will make up their games on Feb. 6.
  • The Sullivan North at Johnson County basketball game has been postponed.
  • The Lebanon/Virginia High game has been postponed.
