KINGSPORT — A 40-point margin is something of a yardstick in basketball.Tuesday night at the Buck Van Huss Dome, Morristown East got its knuckles rapped by that yardstick. After being locked in the gym for 23 practices, the Dobyns-Bennett boys finally got their season under way with a 78-35 win over the Hurricanes. “My guys have been champing at the bit to get out here and play basketball,” said D-B coach Charlie Morgan, who postponed this year’s tipoff game because of the number of players involved with football. “That helped me out because I usually have to teach on the fly and that’s tough. What I think we saw tonight was guys who saw 23-plus days getting ready for this night.” In the girls’ game, Sasha Morrisette ran off with 20 points and the Lady Indians rolled to a 68-33 win over East. For complete coverage of the game see the Nov. 28 edition of the Times-News.
