JONESBOROUGH — It is a rivalry that has received much national attention. Both coaches — Daniel Boone’s Jeremy Jenkins and David Crockett’s Kent Green — say there’s nothing quite like participating in the Musket Bowl.

Boone (8-2, 4-2) won Thursday night 48-8 before a capacity crowd in the 41st annual football game. The No. 7-ranked Trailblazers will move on to the 5A state playoffs. Crockett (2-8, 0-7) ended its season.

Josh Bacon, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior halfback, rushed 11 times for 90 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Trailblazers to their 10th consecutive victory in the series. They will keep the symbolic musket another year.Boone landed the No. 2 seed in its quadrant, behind Knox West. The Trailblazers’ playoff foe will be announced Saturday.
