KINGSPORT — While attending your favorite high school football game, did you ever wonder what was going on with other teams around the area? The Times-News “Tweet Team” has been formed to help fans with such a dilemma. Times-News Live was created so that fans can get updated infomation on local games while they are in progress. “This is a wonderful opportunity for fans to follow their team and other games in real time,’’ said Times-News Content and Audience Development manager Diana Meredith. “You can use your desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone to get updated action and scores on games in our area.’’ Tweeters are being recruited from among high school students, parents and people interested in football. Updated information from games will be tweeted to timesnews.net/timesnewslive so that fans can keep up to date with all the action as it happens. “It’s very exciting to be launching something like this,’’ Meredith said. “Being able to give out real time information from the games is something new for the newspaper business. We think it will serve our readers very well.’’ The program currently has a half-dozen schools on board with many more to come. “We want to expand the concept to as many schools as possible,’’ Meredith said. “We feel sure this is a program with great growth potential.’’ If you are interested in becoming a member of the Times-News Tweet Team, please contact Bill Robinson at (423) 392-1356 or Meredith at (423) 723-1484.
