PRINCETON, W.Va. — The Kingsport Mets gave up five runs in the first inning, but managed to rally back and defeat the Princeton Rays 6-5 in Applachian League play Friday night at H.P. Hunnicutt Field.

In the eighth inning, with Luke Stewart batting, a rare double steal saw Chad Zurcher sprint home safely to seal the K-Mets’ comeback win. Juan Carlos was safe at second on the play.

Kingsport starter Akeel Morris didn’t make it out of the first inning after giving up five runs, three earned. The Mets bullpen took over, not allowing a run in eight innings. Dustin Emmons (2-0) got the win, and Chasen Bradford collected the save.

Gregory Pron went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Mets (27-24), and hit the only home run of the game in the top of the second inning.

The Mets face the Rays (25-26) again tonight in the second of a three-game set.
