BRISTOL, Va. — The Model City’s Beckner brothers were models of consistency in Monday’s Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Championship at The Virginian Golf Club.

Both finished at even par in their respective divisions to take home a brace of trophies.

James Beckner, a rising freshman at Dobyns-Bennett, fired a 72 to collect the 14-15 championship after 18 holes. His 10-year-old brother, Brogan Beckner, shot 36 to win the nine-hole 10-11 championship.

After watching Brogan previously collect consecutive 8-9 championships at age 8 and 9, the elder Beckner picked up his first Tri-Cities Junior Amateur title.

“It was solid. I was hitting the tee ball pretty good. I think I only missed two fairways,’’ said James, who shot 36 on the front nine and 36 on the back. “I was hitting the fairway shots all right, I just wasn’t getting them in the right spot. I’d putt it by 6 or 7 feet but I’d just make it coming back.
