KINGSPORT — For the second year in a row, Chris Wynne is in contention to win a Ridgefields Invitational championship.

For the second year in a row, he is going to have to fight for it.

Wynne, Carlson Cox and Josh Cornett each fired a 68 to tie for the lead in Saturday’s opening round of the 2011 Ridgefields Invitational at the Club at Ridgefields.

Today’s championship flight final foursome also will include defending champion Buck Brittain, who shot a 69.

Brittain has been hitting well but putting poorly since he reached the quarterfinals of match play in the recent VSGA State Amateur. On Saturday, he got the putts to fall.
