It may be hot, but the smallmouth bite on Holston is even hotter

If you’ve bothered to step outside, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been rather hot. Jimmy Dobes at Mahoney’s in Johnson City is happy to report that the smallmouth fishing in the Holston River downstream of Kingsport is even hotter. “The Holston River is on fire. Throw a match in it, and it just explodes,” said Dobes, so excited about his recent float trip that he himself seemed on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Let’s just call it the “Hotston River.” Viva la Funk Fest!
