Harless' walk-off single in seventh lifts Am Vets over SRS, clinches Men's Open B Division softball crown

KINGSPORT — Jeff Webb has spent the last 20 years chasing a championship in the Fun Fest One-Pitch Softball Tournament. Webb’s pursuit finally ended on Tuesday night at the Eastman Softball Complex when Claude Harless came up with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Am Vets an 18-17 victory over SRS in the Men’s Open B Division championship game. Webb got his team going in the bottom of the final frame with a towering three-run homer to left field that pulled the Am Vets within a run. The top of the order came up and pushed across the final two runs, unleashing a celebration around Harless at first base.
