BIG STONE GAP — A roller-coaster round that included six birdies, an eagle, two bogeys and a double bogey still left Kingsport’s Justin Harvey atop the leaderboard after Saturday’s opening round of the 80th annual Lonesome Pine Invitational at Lonesome Pine Country Club.

Harvey posted a 4-under-par 67 to take a one-shot lead over Brandon Worley, who came in with a 68.

Clint Lowe and Joe Meade were tied for third after 69s and Craig Reasor was fifth at 70.

In the senior flight, Tracy Stallard held a three- shot advantage going into today’s final round. Stallard shot a 67, followed by Bob Ross and Mike Freels at 70. Ron McCall was fourth after a 72.

An early-morning cloudburst made already soft conditions just plain soggy. The field took full advantage, firing at every pin.
