Nielson, Martindale post match-play wins on Day 2 of amateur

JONESBOROUGH — The top seeds held their own Tuesday during the opening round of match play in the 71st annual Tennessee Women’s Amateur championship at the Blackthorn Club. Defending champion and top seed Calle Nielson of Nashville was a 4-and-3 winner over K.C. McGinley from Savannah. Second seed and 2009 champion Kendall Martindale of Jefferson City also won her match 4 and 3, over Nashville’s Rachel Johnson. Chattanooga’s Jordan Britt, the No. 3 seed, was a 6-and-4 winner against Cleveland’s Linda Mullins and No. 4 Kristin Price of Dandridge upended Brentwood’s Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi 3 and 2.
