WISE — A straight line of crooked numbers added up to a historic victory for J.I. Burton’s baseball team on Friday.

The Raiders pounded St. Paul 15-4 in the Region D, Division 1 championship game to give the school its first regional baseball championship.

Burton will host Holston on Tuesday night in the VHSL Group A, Division 1 quarterfinals. The Deacons will hit the road to face Parry McCluer.

Caleb Daniels jump-started Burton’s 13-hit barrage, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

The Raiders actually trailed 2-0 entering the top of the second inning before Daniels hit the three-run double that put them up for good.
