Walker, Lady Trailblazers roll over Sullivan South

GRAY — Megan Walker is already assured of ending her high school career as the winningest softball player in Daniel Boone history.

So it only seemed fitting that the senior smacked the two-run single that put her team well on its way to a 9-0 Big 8 Conference victory over Sullivan South on Tuesday during her final home game.

“That was very appropriate for the day,” Boone coach Rick Wagner said. “She’s been a great player during her four years here, and her hitting has improved by leaps and bounds.”

Walker’s big hit, which came in the bottom of the first inning, spotted the Lady Trailblazers a 2-0 lead. That was more than enough run support for Boone pitcher Kellie Waycaster, who allowed just two hits and faced the minimum amount of batters in an efficient outing inside the circle.
