Eighteen meet records were swept away or tied at Tennessee High’s track, with 10 again as many place earners besting the book.
In the boys’ 100-meter dash, four sprinters eclipsed the 11.07 logged by Bryan Webb in 2005. University High’s John Patrone blasted off for a scorching 10.58 , followed by Dobyns-Bennett’s Malik Foreman (10.73), Jefferson County’s Anthony Goins (10.99) and Bearden’s Stephon Stephens (11.06).
“That’s the fastest I’ve ever run,” said Patrone, a junior who ran for Daniel Boone as a freshman and spent his sophomore season competing solely in AAU meets. “I usually favor the 200 meters, but I think I favor the 100 now.”
Foreman, a sophomore, admitted that he thought “anything under 11” would’ve gotten him a win Saturday. Because his season goal is to break 10.3, however, he welcomed the challenge posed by Patrone.
