Tribe pitching stymies Vikings

KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett’s baseball team has launched its 2011 season with a roaring 4-0 record under new coach Ryan Wagner.

Not only are the Indians unbeaten, they knocked off highly touted Tennessee High 7-2 on Tuesday night.

The Tribe disrupted the timing of Tennessee High’s batters with a variety of pitching speeds.

Starter Peyton Taylor, credited with the win, threw a mixture of fastballs, curves and changeups. Then came middle reliever Will Allen’s submarine deliveries. Finally, hard-throwing Reid Mathews struck out the side in the seventh inning.
