JOHNSON CITY — When the final buzzer sounded Monday night at the Region 1-AAA girls semifinals at Science Hill, two teams felt jubilation and two others anguish.

The victors earned berths not only in the championship game, but also Saturday’s sectional games. For the vanquished, the season came to an end.

Science Hill wore down Dobyns-Bennett 68-44 in the opener before Jefferson County closed the night by slipping by Tennessee High 65-61.

The Lady Hilltoppers (30-3) will take on the Lady Patriots (26-3) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to determine the regional champion and who gets to host a sectional matchup on Saturday.
