D-B's boys wrap up second in Big 8 race

KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett was down a man Tuesday night. A significant one at that.

No worry, his teammates had his back.

Several Indians made telling contributions in the absence of starter Tyler Ailshie, and host D-B pulled away from Tennessee High during the second half of a 56-44 win in Big 8 Conference boys basketball play at the Buck Van Huss Dome.

Derrick Steele collected 13 points and Juwan Johnson 10. Zach Daugherty added nine, Justin Long eight and Devaun Swafford six in what was a superb team-driven performance by the Tribe (18-8, 11-3), which locked up second place in the conference with the victory.
