Dobyns-Bennett, Sullivan South, Sullivan North learn playoff fates

NASHVILLE — Unbeaten Dobyns-Bennett will open the TSSAA Class 6A football playoffs at home against Jefferson County, according to statewide brackets released by the TSSAA Saturday.

The Indians (10-0), which were ranked No. 2 in the last Associated Press 6A poll, will face the Patriots (6-4) Friday night at J. Fred Johnson Stadium. At the other end of D-B’s bracket, Science Hill (6-4) travels to face second-seeded Maryville (9-1). The Tribe and top-ranked Rebels potentially could cross paths Nov. 19 in the quarterfinals.

In 5A action, sixth seeded Sullivan South (6-4) hits the road for a rematch with No. 3 seed Daniel Boone (8-2).

Elsewhere in that bracket, Tennessee High (6-4) pays a visit to second-seeded Knoxville West (8-2), Morristown East (5-5) travels to top seed Powell (10-0) and Morristown West (7-3) calls on No. 4 seed Anderson County (8-2).

In the Class 3A playoffs, Sullivan North (7-3) drew a No. 5 seed and will go on the road to take on fourth-seeded Gatlinburg- Pittman (7-3).
