D-B on brink at TSSAA volleyball

MURFREESBORO – With a potential second-round match against Ravenwood looming, Dobyns-Bennett did an excellent job of not looking past its initial opponent in the TSSAA Class AAA state volleyball tournament.

Now the Lady Indians will need to do an equally good job of not dwelling on a disappointing 20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 loss to the Lady Raptors at the Murphy Center on Thursday afternoon, a setback that landed the Tribe in the loser’s bracket.

“It’s behind us now,” said D-B coach Kathi Shaffer, whose team won the state championship last year without dropping a game at the state tourney. “When that locker room door shut, and we came out, what game? It’s over.”
