NORTON — J.I. Burton coach Jimbo Adams said longtime Lonesome Pine District colleague Phil Robbins is a “great guy” for 51 weeks out of the year.

This is not one of those weeks.

The VHSL Hall-of-Famer will make his last trip to Lawson-Fitchko Stadium with his Vikings in tow when Powell Valley (2-2, 0-0) faces the Raiders (3-0, 1-0) on Friday night.

“There is no one in the business that I have more admiration for. He has stepped up and done several things to help me, professionally,” said Adams of Robbins, who’ll retire from coaching after this season. “We’re losing one of our best ambassadors, not only for high school football, but for high school kids."
