Dooley laments 'lost opportunities' in game Vols could have won

The Southeastern Conference, to borrow a phrase from Tennessee coach Derek Dooley, is big boy football. There’s no column in the conference standings for moral victories. Come December, the losing team in the SEC championship will not hoist a “participation trophy” or “certificate of attendance.” Thus, several Volunteers showed the right attitude in postgame interviews after Saturday’s 31-17 loss to Florida. Whereas the former administration seemed content in a way just to keep it close in its lone meeting with the Gators, the 2010 Vols felt they let the Gators off the hook. It’s hard to disagree. If Tennessee had been able to move the ball with any degree of consistency in the first half, it could have been a very different ballgame.
