KNOXVILLE —The emotion was plain to see.

After the final whistle sounded in Saturday’s 31-17 loss to Florida, Denarius Moore walked off the field with his head down, biting his lip. The wide receiver and the rest of the seniors on the Tennessee football team left Neyland Stadium as the latest class to pass through the program without ever beating the Gators.

Florida beat Tennessee for the sixth straight time, the Gators’ longest winning streak in this series. Coach Urban Meyer remained undefeated against the Vols. And a fake punt and a slew of third-down conversions helped keep both streaks intact.

“As a senior, I’ve never beaten Florida and I never will. But that’s something you can’t focus on,” UT linebacker Nick Reveiz said. “I felt like we did show a lot of great things. … We’re going in the right direction.”

Neither offense fired on all cylinders. Tennessee (1-2, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) committed three turnovers, while the 10th-ranked Gators (3-0, 1-0) generated their greatest yardage on that fake punt in the third quarter.
