Barnett also won the shot put competition with a distance of 36-2 and will advance to the Tennessee state meet at Middle Tennessee State University on May 22-25 in both events.
The Lady Cougars' Briana Cox finished fourth in the high jump at 5-2 and also qualified for the state meet.
Sectional winners from Dobyns-Bennett included Andrew Pappas (boys shot, 49-6), Josh Vasquez (boys 1,600, 4:27), Laura Loveless (girls 1,600, 5:09), Britt Brewster (girls pole vault, 10-0) and the Indians' 4x100 meter relay team (42.74).
Other D-B qualifiers for the state meet were Ginny Browning (pole vault), Kendra Sokol (3,200), Tori Head (long jump), Drew Lattier (800), the boys' 4x200- and 4x800-meter relay teams, and the girls' 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relay squads.
The boys' pole vault competition was rained out and will be completed Monday at Oak Ridge.
ST. PAUL - A two-run homer by Brandon Phillips sparked a nine-run second inning to help lift the Deacons past the War Eagles in Cumberland District action.
Phillips went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, also taking the mound in the second inning for St. Paul (10-8, 6-3) to grab the pitching win.
Corey Ellis added three RBIs on a pair of hits, while Dallas Hileman finished with two hits and an RBI.
Michael Thacker scored a run for Rye Cove, while Jacob Arwood finished with an RBI.
EWING - Josh Vermillion and Trevor Criswell scored in the fifth inning to give the Titans a Cumberland win over the Pioneers.
Vermillion led Twin Springs (11-5, 6-3) with a three-hit outing. David Coleman tossed in a pair of hits for the victors.
Thomas Walker (7-9, 5-4) took a 1-0 lead in the first, but couldn't hold on despite 14 strikeouts by Mikey Pauley (4-4). Adam Williams collected two hits for the Pioneers.
WISE - The Lady Blue Knights got eight hits from eight different players Thursday night to upend the homestanding Lady Indians in Lonesome Pine District play.
Samantha Perry led Coeburn with three RBIs.
Hannah Light struck out five and walked two to pick up the win for the Lady Knights.
Alex Wyatt went 2-for-4 for J.J. Kelly (6-11, 4-7).
