The Tennessee softball team claimed its 73rd consecutive non-conference regular-season win - and 10th in a row overall - with a pair of victories against Liberty on Monday at Tyson Park.
The top-ranked Lady Vols (35-2) received a pair of fine outings from pitcher Monica Abbott (28-1), who struck out 12 batters in a 5-1 win in game one before closing out the doubleheader by fanning 13 in a 4-0 shutout.
Abbott is now just 153 strikeouts from eclipsing the NCAA Division I career record for Ks, which is held by former Texas hurler Cat Osterman (2,265).
Catcher Shannon Doepking grabbed the spotlight during the first game, finishing 3-for-3.
Lindsay Schutzler matched Doepking in the nightcap, also scoring twice and adding an RBI.
Tennessee returns to the diamond on Wednesday when it hosts Western Kentucky.
